I'd like to request that the city functions much like a private realm with visitors enabled did in 2.0. Non-realm members could not destroy blocks, but they could place lava, loot chests, and kill anyone if the realm allowed it. This is the Nether after all, and I want as much of the chaos to stand while keeping the city intact.

I am personally leery about the lava, but I see no issue with killing people or looting chests (aside from the fact that it would make stores difficult to work with). If fire does not spread in the Nether, then I am less worried about it. Last thing I want is for Dis to burn to the ground because someone got a little carried away with the lava.

I'm pretty sure firespread is off in the Nether. I'll do some testing next time I come across a tree, but seeing as the farm near Old Celestis is still up and the ghasts are still spawning, I don't think you'll have to worry about fire.

As far as chest protection goes, I think this is an opportunity to actually increase commerce within the city. For fear of their stock being stolen, store owners will eventually hire guards, who will in turn purchase items in homes within the realm.

I would just recommend not building wooden houses in the nether, seems kind of like you are asking for it if you do so.

Also, guards? Why would they guard when they could instead kill everyone and steal everything? For a city like this to work, there has to be a least a small zone with no pvp so the merchants don't get slaughtered.

It seems to me that the number of looters and gankers attracted to such a city would so outnumber any possible number of guards they would overwhelm them and simply level the city.

I'm not sure how freelance shopkeepers would work, but any shopkeepers on a faction could/would just get their fellow faction members to help them out, much like now. As for the guards, I'm trying to set up/organize a "guards watch the guardsmen" kinda thing.

From what I understand though, most of the more active factions in the Nether want order and to protect people. They're not the type to run around ganking people left and right and looting things.
I voted no because the nether is meant for chaos and pvp..
There will most assuredly be PvP, and chaos will still exist out in the rest of the nether. A little order never hurt, and the city can act a a port in the sea of chaos that is the Nether. You know, instead of having to jump through a Nether portal every time you run out of food or arrows.

Of course this is all covered I the OP, which I'm sure you read, judging by the extensive content of your post there.

I would, but maybe ive always had plans for my own epic city in the nether. If this gets protection, why can't it!

I see your reasoning. But you're seeing it like it's "Silsu's epic city in the nether project!" When really, Silsu just inspired the idea and is going the extra 927 miles to make it happen at the moment. He's proposing it's everyones, so for the other people who wanted there own epic nether city, here it is: We all share the one.
