Not enough money for an external hard drive

And I'm still hoping to fix my Windows 7 Ultimate installation.

I've been happy with 7 as well... as for updating, I'm planning to wait for the next version. That usually seems to be a good strategy when they screw up one version.

Windows 8 ain't bad. Just buy StartIsBack or similar (about $5) which gives you back the start menu, normal taskbar functionality and allows you to disable the Tiles desktop. I have Win 8 Pro on my new notebook and it performs identically to Windows 7 Pro for my use.
