Can't tell if bashing an iteration of Windows, or downloaded an iteration of Windows loaded with viruses...

Or perhaps something else entirely...

I would've updated, but I have less than 200 MB of free space due to having a tiny (150GB) hard disk, dual-booting with Windows 7 Ultimate (which won't boot lately, so I can't use it despite the fact that it's much faster for some reason), and having lost 75GB to a partition that I used for Windows Vista when I first got the computer, which got wiped by an incompetent computer technician who still got paid like 300 dollars for doing almost nothing, which I kept so I could try to get back the deleted files, which basically constituted everything I'd ever done...
Why don't you just move any important files into an external hard drive and do a clean install of either unbuntu and/or vista.

Not enough money for an external hard drive :( And I'm still hoping to fix my Windows 7 Ultimate installation.

Never steered me wrong, can't say I'm too eager about Win 8
I've been happy with 7 as well... as for updating, I'm planning to wait for the next version. That usually seems to be a good strategy when they screw up one version.

Next Windows???
8
7
Vista
XP

I just hope they fix the awful "Windows Phone"-inspired UI from Windows 8.

Windows 8 ain't bad. Just buy StartIsBack or similar (about $5) which gives you back the start menu, normal taskbar functionality and allows you to disable the Tiles desktop. I have Win 8 Pro on my new notebook and it performs identically to Windows 7 Pro for my use.
