My first suggestion was proposed as it was specifically because I inferred that you didn't want to add many togglable realm options. Unfortunately, that idea was rejected by a large potion of the community. This idea eliminates many of the problems players had with my first suggestion, but still allows for the larger variety of builds that do more than look pretty.
I can definitely see where you're coming from with not wanting to add too many commands, but honestly, in my opinion, more commands can only be a good thing, as long as they're helpful and stay within the feel of Minerealm. The players that are worth keeping are smart enough to read /help to learn about any commands they feel they may want to use, and features like this don't have any real negative impact on the players that don't want to use them or don't care to learn about them. More togglable features like this would drastically increase the customizability of realms and allow them a much wider range of functionalities.
The main reason I hardly come here anymore is because the realm system as it is, frankly, makes the game pretty dull for me. All there is to be done on the server is grind for countless hours to get materials, so that you can spend countless hours building something that does nothing but look nice. If I'm going to put that much work into something, I want to be able to have fun with it afterwards, and share that fun with anyone willing to partake in it.
If more features like this, public realm toggle (which would be even better with the ability to select which features were public), and better PvP mechanics (player death upon logging out during PvP combat, inability to turn off PvP while in combat, etc) were implemented, MineRealm would be a much more
fun place to be. Players could create working minigames, PvP would be worthwhile, and there would just be a whole lot more to do than there is now.
I probably sound like I'm venting by now, but please try not to overlook my point here. I truly appreciate that you actually go out of your way to express your concerns about these kinds of things, and the only reason I even go out of my way to write these paragraphs is because of how much I'd love to see this server reach the kind of potential it has to be something that Minecraft by itself just can't. MineRealm has so many things going right for it; a huge community, a capable server, and an owner that's actually a skilled programmer. If it would just enable the players to create things that they can actually enjoy together, instead of just appreciate aesthetically, it would be the ideal place for not only myself, but also many dozens of people I know that just can't see the appeal in staring at a structure made of blocks.
