An end chest is a special sort of chest that's crafted using 8 obsidian and an ender eye. All end chests in a world share their contents--for example, if you put 7 diamonds in an end chest in the nether, then go home to the overworld and place another, the diamonds will be in there. Basically, they're all copies of the same chest that let you access your stuff from all over--they're item transportation, basically. Also, they're as blast-resistant as obsidian.

No, the problem is that the chests will probably be accessible only by 1 player. Hence why I speculated about server stress, storing all that separate data.

I assume 4.0 will be updated to 1.3 and to future updates, but just not wiped to add certain features.
(I.E. Trading with villagers will work, but emerald won't be underground.) Am I right? Does this make sense?

I am not sure that they share the entire contents of all in the world, just that player's end-chest.

trade chest?

They couldn't be used (at least not safely) for private trades, as a player with a third ender chest could take the items despite not being involved in the trade, which means one of the traders gets ripped off. Perhaps, though, this could be worked into this server--if /trade is eliminated, so players need to find an alternate way of trading, the use of two ender chests in different parts of the world would be a good way to transfer items... with the understanding that if they lose items to the chest, that's just the risk they run by using ender chests instead of going to a meeting place.

Of course, the ender chests could easily be used as a community chest (like the ones that sit out in the open just outside of the trade rooms)--having an ender chest in your base gives you an easy way to get rid of items you don't want, while making them available to other players, and possibly making other players' unwanted items available to you.

Alternatively, I suspect the chests could also be modded to support differing contents for each player. I personally would love it if that happened (it would, for example, be helpful for transferring items between bases at opposite ends of the map), but might not be considered legit, particularly since the wiki claims that the sharing of items between all chests is an "intended drawback."
