Instead of having a server having more chat plugins, you could use a external program, like Skype. Then you could add the members of realms and set up your own alliance chats.

But that would require Alt+Tab then moving the mouse to click, type text, enter Alt+tab and then click back to game.

Instead of T /A, type text, enter.

Its alot more efficient to have a plugin, since I doubt everyone would be confortable with voice chat.

An alliance chat would be a lot faster, unless you made the MC window not fullscreen. Then you would just move your mouse, click, then resume playing mc

Ah, I've never used skype so I don't know much about it.

Or, you can use Skype, set it to screen share so no one can see you and use a video chat. You wouldn't have to type, you could talk to each other and if someone needed to know where you are, you could show them using the screen share function. Of course this wouldn't work if someone didn't speak English or what ever language you speak.

2. Sharing screen would be awful in MC, everyone would see where your chests are :S

3. If people didn't speak English then they cant type English either...

2. Would part of your alliance try to steal what is in your chests? I don't think so. Anyway, if your realm is private and visitors are off, they wouldn't be able to get in your realm and steal your stuff.

People in your realm are also in your alliance AND you cant trust everyone in a large realm...
