My thoughts on this vary because of the fact that, I too have worked hard on obtaining diamonds, glowstone, credits, realms, etc... but I do think that a new start would spark my interest because of the growing economy boost from that, if people were open to the idea that there would be more diamonds, more glowstone, and more of everything that is currently in high demand.

Really the only thing I see that would completely wipe the interest in minerealm would be everyone's current amazing things (Sub Aurora, Sir Dave's Cathedral, Intelli's tower, and countless other epic builds) would be completely destroyed. So I like the idea that we keep the current 4.0 server on as classic.minerealm.com and make minerealm 5.0 be game.minerealm.com. That way people can continue on their builds as well as people who want a fresh start can enjoy themselves too.

My only suggestion would be that the current credits, if possible, be carried over to Minerealm 5.0's server and be accessible to both servers. But I know that's pretty far fetched, but I myself am excited about a fresh start

Perhaps we could keep 4.0 as a "city server", and use the new one as an all-around server? That is, some parts city, but also some parts wilderness survival, etc.

if you walk for about half an hour, you'll realise that the server actually is as you described about, it has cities and plenty of wilderness, however you will find many holiday homes so's to speak in the wildernes! :p

So then that will just prove that nobody wants to stay in the old map, and would rather start a new. You are just supporting the idea that the majority would like to play in a new map. Yet you still want to keep everyone in the current map, against their will... Give them the choice, vote B!

Second point, those who vote for B are just trying to be "politically correct" to those voting for A. We realize that we should give some compromise against the opposition to the new map. Most people probably would want to vote for C (like me), but realize it would have too much resistance. So we vote for B because it is more diplomatic.

B seems the most appealing. There's a lot of awesome builds on the server that I know a lot of people have spent countless hours on. Even current projects like Kingsparticus's subway station or the current amazing Nordica project..even SirDave's jaw dropping castles...I'd hate to have those lost. Nothing is permanent, and that's the risk of playing on someone else's server.

I'd be for a new map if Intelli put up the complete resource files for the current server on something like dropbox for us to download.

Just an idea as well... Since it seems Mojang are intent on releasing content patches into the foreseeable future, why not limit the new map to something like 2500, there by giving room for future growth? Sure the current server could handle +-5000, but if it were limited, there would be room to simply expand the map in the future. Afaik, biomes are static, and can be modified on creation, meaning no weird jagged edges as with past patches.

It just makes me wonder why I even play, if the stuff I have worked hard on for the past 9 months is to be removed. Even if it goes on a classic server, it wont take long before it gets shut down.
