With the London Olympic Games of 2012 fast soon approaching and after watching the yoga cast olympics I have been toying with the idea of holding an Olympics in Minerealm. I have been pondering this idea since the Christmas holidays, but with the renovations in Turves taking up a great deal of my attention. I let this idea slide.
Initially I was thinking of organising just a Nordica centred games, however I realised that such an event would require a lot more people to properly organise.
So I came up with a better idea, rather one faction hosting the games. It would be far better if lots of different factions held different events around Minerealm.
I'm looking for players willing to act as event organisers, judges, marshalls and food vendors for. The various sporting events.
I would like to put together an Olympic planning committee to oversee the running of the games.
There should be a number of sporting events based on activities we can do in minecraft that mimick sporting events at the games.
Events could include; running races, 100 block hurdle race, long jump, block jumping, swimming, long distance races, wrestling, diving, kyacking (boats), fencing, speeding, archery, etc.
We need suitable locations for the events, possible mod (staff) support, sponsorship for prizes, race commentators in the forums, marshalls and competitors.
The games would be a good opportunity to use the /event command and I think we could have a number of events over the course of a week.
