Well what are rules for? No cannons then... Its not that hard, and most people don't know how to make a cannon anyways I think.. At least not new people =)

I don't think lag will have to be a problem, and I certainly don't see why we can't discuss it... Why does it matter if we discuss it or not?
If we put a timer on how often people can put down TNT, like 5 every 5 minutes (from when the 5th has been placed down) and including the other TNT rules and codes, it really could work I believe. We'd have to experiment somehow to find out whether it works or not.

I think there should be terms for it being allowed, something like this...
1. Cannot be used as propellant or explosive for any type of cannon.
2. Can only be used in private realms, greater than x distance from spawn/cities.
3. Can only be placed in groups of one/two, and then must be detonated before more TNT can be placed.
4. TNT cannot detonate TNT.
5. Cannot be used as a weapon, or for traps, unless clearly stated to other players, and complies with the above rules.
6. If you break these rules, you may lose TNT privileges at the discretion of the staff.

Just a draft, and I think this might solve the majority of problems.

Perhaps the ability to place it should be implemented as a privilage that can be granted and removed on a player to player basis...?

I say combine these. Only 1 TNT per chunk or realm, whichever is easier programatically. Only Make it a perk available only to veterans/donors (maybe not even donors, just lifers). Add to it that it can only be ignited by flint & steel so that it couldn't be chained into a huge lagsplosion.

Anyway, this sounds like a lot of work for Intelli to make it safe for the server so it's probably best not to have TNT.
