That would be my best guess--there were ban appeals that people posted along the lines of "sorry I downloaded this mod, I was surprised that I got banned so quickly."

So it sounds like it can detect hacks before they're even used. Certainly an improvement, but on the downside I feel like I should stay away from legitimate client changes (e.g. Optifine) just be safe.

That's kinda dumb.... ah well, most of my friends will be banned. And, if you have singleplayer mods (toomanyitems) it detect it. My friends had it, he was banned. It must ban for optifine too, then..
