On the other hand, this means I have more options for building wooden structures, and can theme them to the various strips of land I'm developing.

Is anyone else looking at this and both seething with fury and simultaneously fantasizing about the potential?

You have no idea how much happiness your response about this gave me. Although, via ecstasy and roller coasters, you should be able to get a fairly close approximation.

The double layer ceiling and walls in my spawn realm are all from wooden planks, although I dont think existing planks will change due to this update. As normal wood still give the normal logs I think that they just added the other 3 colors as new blcoks (or same block with another subnumber, idk how mc works)

Mojang were duhpy and forgot about that, and also there are so many fails with the sandstone blocks when it comes to crafting xD
