Might aswell upload these screenshots, heres' some screens of the initial design which called for a clay statue, but I realised that since Turves was in a snow biome (Or Taiga to be precise) that the prospect of an ice statue was suddenly much more appealing...
The first couple of pictures represent the prototype I designed on a creative server, the rest show the actual construction of the statue on Minerealm and the final pictures of the unveiling...
Initial Designing

On some random creative server, which visited briefly to hash out some designs, with the intention to build them on Minerealm. Turves needed some centre pieces and features for the renovation project.
With the major facelift that Turves has been, currently is and continues to undergo I wanted to incorporate some MLP themed referrences that would fit in with the rest of the theme that I'm goning for.
I plan to build more symbols such as Pegasi around Turves whilst making stylised to fit in with the whole quasi medieval-industrial style I hope to build around Turves.

Initial design called for an ornimental garden like those found in the grounds of 17th century country estates in the England. I think I will use these elements still, but their form will be different.

I quite like the style and will probably look to make some hedge gardens in other parts of Turves or within the main castle itself once built. The initial gate castle and the castle proper will act as a centre point and capital for the entire Nordican Empire. I hope to incorporate elements from all the other members' builds as a respectful nod to their styles and designs whilst presented in my own style.

Whilst the current statue is constructed out of Ice rather than clay. I spent many hours on minerealm sourcing clay from various riverbeds, which involved many deaths from drowning and sometimes loss of materials. I devloped a buddy system and experimented with aqua affinity helmets as a response.
Whilst it may seem that The clay collection would of gone to waste, I think I will still make use of it in other constructions, wall frescos and statues around Turves...
Minerealm construction

Behold the completed work! All Hail the Glorious Potato!
No this is a dirt mold, used to contain the water...

Dirt is used to contain the water until the water on the surface freezes.

Dirt is also used as scaffolding to provide access to each layer.

Water in snow biomes on the surface freezes when it is on the surface, however it is only the top layer that actually freezes, so any contstruction has to be built up layer by layer.

To provide a ready available water source a 2 by 2 'well' of water was used, to prevent it freezing over a dirt roof was placed a couple of blocks above to prevent it freezing. The 2 by 2 well acts as an inifite water source as the water respawns when 2 other squares with water are present.
In total 3 such wells were made at the various stages of construction, 2 during the initial construction and 1 during a repair phase.

Be in mind when making Ice sculptures that the entire structure has to built layer by layer from the bottom upwards as only the top layer will actually freeze.

I found it easier to construct quickly with 3 buckets, but a minimum of 2 is needed to quickly place source squares where apropriate. A nice view of Alexrybicki's builds in the distance.

It looks a bit strange, but this is the statue with the dirt mold casing around it.
As well as looking at it close by, I occassionaly had the need to back of and look at the overall picture.

As well as check to see how well it fitted in with the rest of the build around Turves

All that was needed after this was to remove the dirt and build a gravel wall to hide the build.
A mistake was made in production that required me to rebuild 1 column of ice, the entire sculpture including the repair took one evening and a following morning and a great deal of patience perserveance and concentration.
The Unveiling

The build, Torches are placed underneath dirt and gravel to hide the build, once the dirt is removed the gravel collaspes onto the torches and is removed, a useful technique when mining out large sections of gravel in mines as well, but you wouldn't get the credits for their removal.

I was initially planning to use the /event command, but went with a small gathering instead. I might try using the /event command in future for the next events in Turves and around the Nordican Empire.

The Pegasus hides no longer.

The statue unveiled in Turves with the new station building being built in the background.

Thanks for turning up everyone (everypony? Need to chage those settings on the MLP mod).
I hope to arrange more events in and around Turves in the future.^^
Until then,
Love and Tolerance all.
