The way I see it, is that this functionality it being added to the game by the actual developers. It's no an exploit, and this is a perfectly legitimate way of farming iron. No hacking or exploitation is used in this. If we ban this, should we also ban any other type of mob farming? Anyways, just my opinion.

The difference is that while mob farms from spawners can be obtained by many players (due to the large number of spawners), iron farms can be obtained by only the few players to control an NPC village. Your point still stands, though; it's functionality being added by Mojang, rather than a cheat invented by a player.

Ya this will have to be looked at, maybe increase the amount of npc's that spawn, dunno.

One idea for doing so:
Minecraft Wiki wrote: Villagers will mate depending on available housing. The amount of housing can be supplemented by the player...
Perhaps changes could be made to let players construct a new village that will begin to spawn NPCs, rather than just adding onto naturally-occurring villages.

Well, think about it, if the price of iron hits rock bottom... 100/stack even 50/stack, it's not the end of the world. It just means cheap iron.

Iron is already cheap, it's not like we are talking about diamond or glowstone. There is already a crap ton of iron.

On the other hand, I am starting to think Mojang did not think this would happen. So it could possibly be a bit of an exploit. Then again- maybe they thought if you could build this, you already deserve all the iron you can get, etc.

So I'm not going to pick a side. I'm 50/50.

I would have to agree with Lm108. This is just another form of farming.
This is another resource on similar lines to glowstone, netherwart, and rare blocks found in the strongholds. There has been competition over these resources in the past to control them and people weren't banned for acquiring control over them.
The same applies to all the mob spawners dotted about the map.

How big would the golem farm have to be in MineRealm to prevent the despawning of too many testificates in close proximity? Would the golem spawning even work in an extremely large facility that prevents testificates from getting too close to each other?
