These are the specs of the computer I'm thinking about buying, the price is $1999 AUD, which is about $2135 US

I know there are some people who know a lot about computers who play here, and i was just wondering if this is worth the price, or you think i could get a better deal. My absolute budget is $2000 AUD, definitely no higher.

I can also customize parts of this computer around to improve certain parts, such as sacrificing 2TB hard drive space to improve something like the processor or graphics card.

Considering you are planning to spend up to $2135 on this computer, I suggest you find better power and cooling options. I'd suggest liquid cooling (not a custom job, but just a drop in model... check out the Corsair H100, it's only $100). I had a Hyper 212+, and it's a great cooler, but since I went with liquid cooling, I haven't looked back. As for power, 800 watts should be enough, but I'd suggest springing for a 1000 watt PSU, especially if you plan to overclock.

As for everything else, it looks sexy. I have a OCZ Vertex, they are awesome.

For extra geek cred, trade the 2x2TB drives for 4x1TB drives and then put them in a RAID array.

Sounds cool, thanks for the advice. This PC is already on the edge of my limits, but ill see what price it would be with your suggested upgrades and see what I can do.

Is there any reason you're considering an Intel board? Not that they're bad but Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, etc make better boards with better features in my experience. I personally use MSI though I also have a Sandy Bridge proc and it's been giving me problems (it being the board), i'd go with Gigabyte over Intel. Also, if you plan on overclocking (which i'm assuming you are since you got the "k" version of the 2600) I'd second fritters recommendation of the H100. I personally have a Thermaltake Frio and with my 2500k I top out at about 4.5 ghz stable while stress testing (prime 95 and OCCT stress tests) which is a pretty hefty jump but i'm sure I could coax more out of it with a liquid loop. I'm partial to Nvidia as far as graphics go so I couldn't comment on your card of choice. I'd also suggest a Corsair power supply either 800 or 1000. I personally have the HX1000 and it's beautiful. It's not 100% modular (as most sub $300 power supplies aren't) but you use everything that is hard wired and in that case you are considering, you should have ample room for some really nice wiring work.

On another note, I don't know how much hard drives have gone up in price in AUS due to the flooding that happened in Thailand, but here in the US, on Newegg, 4TB worth of 1TB drives will run you around $600 or more. It would be cheaper to go with the 2 2TB drives (around $500 ish for for 2).

Other than that, this build looks solid. Is this your first build or have you done builds in the past?

I'm not building the computer, but I'm buying it from a computer shop which can manufacture it to my specifications.

I'll also have 12 months to get upgrades after i buy it, so i don't need everything right away, but I'm considering upgrading to the H100 and a XFX 1000W, unless you think the slightly cheaper corsair power supply would be better.

I'm going to ask about the 4x1TB RAID hard drive configuration, but I'm sure 2x2TB will be fine, particularly with the SSD.

I'm not so worried about the motherboard for now, depending on the cost, i cant pass my 2 grand limit by more than $400... but i can save up for more upgrades in the future. (for the future, is there any that motherboards that people would suggest?)

All i want is to be able to run most (if not all) games at the highest graphics possible, as well as using editing software such as Sony Vegas Pro 11 and Adobe after effects... Also, a MUST is recording at a solid 60FPS on Minecraft with a HD texture pack, which I'm sure this computer will easily be able to do.

Ive said this in game before, but it's not that i cant, its that I'm 15 and i doubt my dad trusts me to handle hundreds of dollars worth of hardware. He'd probably let me if he had the faintest clue about how any of it worked...

Id rather just get it built, plus, the place I'm getting it from is surprisingly cheap for this kind of thing.

I was 15 when I built my computer originally. My parents have 0 clue how computers work too. Also, $2,135 for that computer sounds more than it normally would be separate.

Again, i could but im not even gonna bother asking xD

Its actually not a bad deal, i dont think its toooooo much extra to have it built in this case.

EDIT: Might i be better off getting this, no upgrades though? http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/ind ... ml?sort=2a
