Wait I thought this was more of a minecraft problem when chunks occassionally fail to load properly after teleporting. The best solution to these situations is if you're gonna tp with a lot of valuable items and exp, turn your render distance down to tiny.
What can happen if the render is turned up to far is that the map chunk fails to load in time or takes too long and the result is that your character falls into the void and dies.
If you do make this mistake, quickly log off and turn all the graphics down to the lowest and render distance down to tiny and then log on, and potentially you may need to type /home or /trade quickly to tp again and hopefully the map will load properly. There is a chance you may still take a small amount of damage, so becareful.
