For the record I don't personally need an incentive to donate.
But.
In practicality I think it is helpful to give an incentive. Right now as far as I know, donors get 3 things:
1) donor tag
2) As long as you remain an active donor your realms don't disband even if you are inactive on the server for 30+days
3) You can place a #view sign that is clickable on the world map and will show a snapshot of what you can see from where the sign is placed.

1) You already get that.

2) You already get that. (no, it never went away)

3) Everyone can already do that.

4) All you have to do is ask a mod/admin and they'll probably do it on little notivce - they all like a party.

The first 3 things I listed are the things that donors currently get, a recap if you will. So I'm not sure what your comments mean?
The 4th thing is my idea of a possible further incentive. I'm sure you weren't meaning to be rude, just perhaps didn't comprehend. The point of this thread was an idea for a possible donor incentive, which is is why I said "Here is my idea for a possible 4th donor incentive".

John you're wrong about number 3, only Donors can do that, as stated by staff in game.
Personally, i don't care for incentives, just knowing i've donated is enough, however as you say, some people do, and i think the ability to request /event for something that is not an Official event would make a good one for most people.

I donated for two reasons. The first was to help with the costs of the only server I play on; one that I spend way too much time on already! The second was for that silly little blue tag. Does it mean anything? No, but I like seeing it and it makes me feel like I am now more a part of the server and it's community. And for that, a contribution was worthwhile.

I want the best for Minerealm, and if there is a way to entice more people to be charitable and donate, then I think it can be nothing but a good thing. Small perks (i think you forgot the tagged picture in the server map, j-mom) that do not give the player any sort of unfair advantage would only help to sway those people who were on the fence and simply need encouragement to donate.

So an event status, or a name on a leader board somewhere, or smokey shoes, or whatever it is the admins think is fair might just bring in more support.

If something like this were implemented, it should be based on the "worthiness" of the proposed event. If a bunch of random crap ("showing off their cobblestone monolith," as you say), this would undermine the /event command's status as an indicator of something really unique and worthwhile happening in the server.

This. But, only true minerealmers would use /event for actual builds. I would invite everyone to music disc palace. :3

The only thing that really pushes my buttons is the fact that I helped the server and now nobody knows. The only thing I wanted was to be recognised by everyone from the newest noob to the oldest veteran that I have contributed. The perks were an added bonus. The tag was something I flashed around to say I helped. Too be honest the perks we had I didn't use in the first place.

The bottom line is now nobody knows that I helped the server out at one point or another. To take our tags would be like stripping our dignity. I would not complain if our tags were back. The perks didn't matter.

Yes, jail, the removal of your tag has wiped from our minds any memory of you having donated. We don't recall such a thing, and we CERTAINLY don't still appreciate it, regardless.
And anyways, even if the tag's not there, we know you're a loyal member who works for the good of the server.

I thank everyone who remembers me with my tag but I know for fact that there is a ton of new players who have never seen me or the other donors with their tags. As a donor the people look up to you especially the new players. You have no clue how many time I have been messaged in game for help with something. Helping them made me feel wanted. Now I just feel like another face in the crowd.

No worries. That is a lesson I have personally learned several times over the years :lol: I won't expand on that due to the broad age range of the player base. But suffice to say I have at times felt that if I couldn't be a good example, at least I had been a horrible warning
