You need to put an ending date on your auction... none of this "at your discretion crap"

Recently Quentijn posted a fairly good idea for auction rules. So here are the new rules:


TITLE Auction: [ITEM]

LAYOUT
In-game Name:
Item(s) up for auction:
Starting bid:
Minimum increments:
Ending date:
Buyout Price (Optional):

Screen shots are also encouraged, because they provide proof of items, and it's easier to show what you're selling.
If auctions refuse to follow this new procedure they can be shut down at staff discretion.

EDIT: The ending date cannot simply be discretionary; you MUST give a certain length or a specific date and time.

Additionally, the new rules do not indicate that bids have to be followed through with if retracted before the auction ended.

@Prodigy: I am fully alloted to exercise my right to not following through, if by all means necessary I decide to before the auction is declared finished. If it were the final bid in the auction; and weren't retracted before the OP said the auction ended, then that unofficial rule would likely be in place, however if someone decides they changed there mind before the auction ended they are free to decline there offer whenever.

What? Why? I'm sorry for realizing I needed the money? That's seriously unfair.

It's ENTIRELY fair. You may not simply withdraw bids in an auction; they are BINDING. If there is some extraordinary circumstance, then you may inquire, but otherwise, it is your own fault for being unable to budget properly. If this continues to be a problem, there may well be official punishments. I have no qualms about forcing you to sell a realm or three to live up to a bid.

Actually, Prodigy, that falls under the category of what I was speaking about.

Hippo was withdrawing a bid after the auction was closed, thus ruining any chance of other people winning the auction.

So, my point still stands.

I agree with Canna. He retracted his bid long before the end of the auction, if it has an end, since Zellbud doesn't read apparently. Also other people have been bidding and continuing the bid so it doesn't hurt the auction at all. If Canna had been the last bidder and the Auctioneer ended the auction, then if Canna removed his bid it would be against the rules.
