I read about that, but wasn't sure what to make of it. Is it something that the feds were allowed to do under current law, or is it something that isn't allowed unless SOPA passes? If they're just enforcing the law as it is currently written, that's a far cry from saying "screw Congress!" and enforcing a currently debated bill as if it's a law. From what I can tell, nobody's been convicted of anything, but rather the website was shut down at the same time that arrests were made... which would be punishing them for allegedly committing a crime rather than being convicted of a crime.

Either way, the timing seems deliberate after the whole "blackout" protest yesterday...

Drop Box isn't illegal hosting. Its only hosting if you use it to illegally distribute stolen wares... and then it wouldn't be Drop Box who is shut down, it would be your account.

By attack I assume you mean the denial of service programs they've used before? MPAA and UMG make sense as targets. But attacking the Justice Department's website? I predict more arrests of "Anonymous" members very soon.

I mean, I can see what their thinking was--attack the governmental department that was responsible for the takedown of the file sharing site--but that was a very bad tactical decision on their part. Just because you get away with attacking some institutions doesn't mean you'll get away with attacking other, more powerful ones. Ask my friend Joe about that.

Thanks for the links!

Noteworthy information for those who haven't read them: the FBI's site was taken down. Anonymous attacked the freakin' FBI.
