A week?! Far too short of a time. Maybe a random time between 30 and 35 days, or something like that... but to say that your realms are at risk if you're busy for 7 days seems rather extreme.

Or they go up for an auction in game.
And you type

Format:
/Auction *realm number *Realm Credits

Example:
/Auction 11007 10000

and you can type
/auction
for all the realms up for auction. :3

Auctions would be a good idea, and yes fritter anything to keep it from ending up like terrance's realms.

Still sad to see that I never got to own one piece of that land that I built on D: That is except Foxtops which wasn't owned by Terrance.

^ I actually think that would be a good idea. It makes it a little longer in case you go on a month vacation w/o Minecraft, also people cannot camp the plots until the minute they disband.
