I dislike Minecraft SMP combat, the mechanics suck and your chances of winning a fight are based much more on your equipment and luck than they are on your skill.

That being said, I wouldn't mind this change. Makes realms seem more necessary and I think it would add the element of danger that I feel has been missing for a while. Since hostile mob spawning got nerfed working in the wilderness seems like a walk in the park.

Not to mention creeper's spotty damage dealing, when they explode right next to you and somehow you don't take damage. Zombies are slow and easily avoided/killed, and skeleton arrows are easily dodged. The only thing I ever feel that challenges me when I'm in the wilderness is spiders, and that's just because they're fast.

Remember, it's advertised as a survival server, not a free build server.

I completely agree with Fritter. With the safe zone being in a diameter of 2000 blocks, I disagree. I live within that diameter so I wouldnt experience any PvP. I would have to travel another 1000 blocks to find "Wilderness". Just make it where realms are Safe. Every Public place is PvP enabled.
