You said it: Spawn Realm Owners ("Us") will gain the profit, noone else! Atm the server is unique, every player has the same chance to do a trade. Us as in the people who support this. *facedesk*
I know what you want: screw "Newbies" with high prices.

Lol, I don't even own a spawn realm that's newbies would go to.

Why should someone ask for goods in public chat? Newbies will intentionally leave spawn building, going into the first shop they see
/msg.
Also, Newbies DON'T HAVE CREDITS YET

Don't lie: I care! The Shop System doesnt fit into Minerealm![/quote]
It's not implemented yet. Don't lie about that. You don't know what it might be like. It's like trying to predict how death feels. Anyone who says they know is a liar. Same here.

It's my way of expressing feelings.
Honestly, if you want to say something, fine. But you are so NEGATIVE.
Have I proved my point?

This is beginning to get a bit heated. Please try to keep the debate from turning into a flame war and stay on topic. If you're going to argue that somebody else is wrong, do it with some finesse and reasons why.

Only thing you've proved is how immature you are.

In my opinion, this would be a cool thing. I don't see why so many people oppose it. It would help the trade system.

You realize to win in capitalism you have to offer more product for less than your competitor?

You are not an admin, nor does this poll agree with that statement.

I think the system would have to involve having only 1 type of item in each chest, else it would get to complicated to set prices.

I think a sign system with a specific format would be good... something like this

[Shop]
(item id for sale)
(price)

That would be truly awesome

That's just about exactly what I had in mind. If more than one item type could be sold from a single chest, it would probably have to be done through tooltips instead of signs. I'm not even entirely sure if that would be possible.

I just think it's already so easy to be able to buy something like a stack of iron or blaze rods, without even having to mine or visit the nether. Automatic signs would be a bit to easy, and I dread the feeling of making items pop out of thin air, or in this case, signs.

Just my opinion.

(Emphasis added.)

The whole point of the system is that items don't pop out of thin air. I understand that you weren't trying to suggest otherwise--as you say, that was just a "feeling" about the system--but feelings would not disrupt the economy or undermine the legit-ness of the server. Those who dislike the system would not be affected by it if it were implemented, as it would still be possible to do manual trading with players who either dislike the system as you do, or find manual trading more convenient than needing to walk to a player-run shop.

On that last topic, the convenience of automated shops vs. manual trading, I actually don't think it would be "too easy," since trading would be dispersed across the area of the server rather than being almost totally based on a central hub accessed by a handy dandy warp command. Since variations in price are possible, users of an automated system would still be challenged to shop around, and find shops with attractive features; wise shoppers would have to balance the convenience or inconvenience of a shop's location with other features, like the prices offered, variety of available merchandise, and consistency of merchandise availability. It would certainly be possible to just buy items at whatever shop is fortunate enough to be closest to spawn, but players take the easy option will probably end up losing more credits in the long run than those that challenge themselves to search for the best available deals.

Edit/Addition: Although we're eight pages into the thread with 70% of the 71 voters supporting the idea, it seems like we don't have any remarks from staff members about this proposal, either here or in the priorities suggestion thread where it was brought up. Would any mods or admins be willing to share their thoughts on this idea? Even a personal opinion (i.e. not speaking for the staff as a whole) would be appreciated--I'd like to see what our server's leaders think about the idea.

Savesthedazed - Edit: Sorry, hit edit instead of quote. -_-; Restored.

Even decent ideas with popular support get rejected with regularity. Without having read too much into the idea, these automated shops always seem to involve a heavy amount of coding (as we all know Intelli does not use a mod he hasn't coded himself). Remember, every new mod that gets added is more work for Intelli, not only when implemented, but with every update as well.

Personally, I think if it's not broke, don't fix it. I've never had trouble purchasing anything that I need. But that's just my opinion and experience. :)
