If Intelli decides he wants to "waste" his time on this, then I say let him. In fact, I'd greatly appreciate it if he did and, according to the poll right now, so would over 70% of the Minerealm community.

I would like to see stores for commodity items (dirt, cobbles, etc), but I don't think it would be safe/smart for rare items. I could imagine without some sort of rate limiting, groups could pool RC and buy up huge quantities of them.

I'm not sure I completely understand your concern.

I guess what I mean is, that we'll still need to barter for some items, as I'd imagine that stuff like diamonds/GS should people choose to sell them this way will be gone in an instant. I guess it's not really a problem as the person selling them will be compensated.

NO!

Are you insane?

Why should trading be difficult?
Sometimes the automation of a process is a bad thing. At the moment a functioning shop requires a lot of work, high chat activity, and often more than 1 player. Therefore trading is a bit difficult. Fact is that players have to wait for demand in the chat and forums ("buying coal"). The Interaction on both sides prevents the total capitalism, where players mine netherrack or sand the whole day, just for credits.

Two scenarios:
1.
Spawn realm owners found a cartel. There are maybe 20 shops near spawn, but everywhere nearly the same price for diamonds: 300 credits each. Other shops will adopt the price, if you walk 500 blocks you can get diamonds for 250. YAY
2.
Because of the high count of shops (every second realm near spawn), there is a oversupply of diamonds. Prices go down to 25 credits per diamond. Instead of mining, smart people simply go into nether and mine Netherrack for fast credits. Instead of planting trees for wood they mine netherrack and buy wood.

The current system also helps to find new friends and partners. Many of the people I know traded with me first. They often asked for special conditions, payment options, i asked them about their realms, some of them got build rights for my realms, access to my exp grinder, a plot in our city...

So? Who cares? 50 credits only seems like huge cash to newbies. If you want to walk, fine by us.

If players want to do that, it's not your problem. You can plant trees, mine, or camp people when they mine netherrack. The point is:
NO ONE CARES. DO WHAT YOU WANT.

You can still "/trade" if you want. Point is this:

Or, you ask if someone is selling them in /trade. No one is forcing you to buy diamonds that are grossly overpriced, nor would you be forced to go to stores.

Whether they are sold in shops or /trade, the total number of diamonds is not magically increasing on the server. Therefore, your argument is invalid.

I'm not sure why people believe we require /trade to "meet new people" and "build the community". Most of the people I trade with exchange maybe 3 messages, meet in trade, and never talk to me again.

I like capitalism. Thanks for further convincing me that this is a good idea.
However, I may be a bit rusty on the details of economic philosophy, but I'm pretty sure digging up sand is not a fundamental aspect of capitalism.

You said it: Spawn Realm Owners ("Us") will gain the profit, noone else! Atm the server is unique, every player has the same chance to do a trade.
I know what you want: screw "Newbies" with high prices.
LeafWarrior254 wrote: You can still "/trade" if you want. Point is this:
Why should someone ask for goods in public chat? Newbies will intentionally leave spawn building, going into the first shop they see

Don't lie: I care! The Shop System doesnt fit into Minerealm!
