I suggest not starting a flame war about computers in a topic about "locking certain wiki pages". I also realize that it was indeed unwise for me to say anything about your Mac. comment, and I ask that you forgive me for that, it won't happen again.

*Edit* This is also the "Ideas/Suggestion" forum, which is another reason for for starting a Mac vs Pc war.

I suggest we do.

Of course, that's sarcasm, if you didn't want to start a flame war you should have just ignored the first comment. Also, there's little to no argument with the validity of the last entry, so it'd be about as pointless as saying Mac's aren't easier to navigate for infants and old people.

-Kills thread- Let it lay to rest.

Before we close this topic, I would like to ask you all not to be afraid to post in the wiki. The admins of the wiki will do everything in their power to stop this spam surge, and reverse any damage that may come.

I completely agree with this, however, the spam is normally on new pages. I'd rather a better anti spam system. Like... No external links and email alerts for admins when a new page is created.

The spammers could be mitigated by requiring either email verification on new accounts, or moderator approvals for new wiki users. Also a captcha on login may help in the case that the attacks are automated at all.

Usually stuff like the Main Page on wikis is limited to trusted users/admins.

I have an idea - make it so you can only login to the wiki (you need to login to edit it) if you've played on the MineRealm Minecraft server.

This would prevent spammers, as they don't play on the game.
Investigating the possibility now.
