I think this system would be nice if there was a way to rebel and take back independence, as the wealthier groups will be able to exercise there influence much faster than the average independent realms.

From the perspective of somebody who would like to opt out of the country system completely, the tax forcibly imposed on realms within a country makes us choose between two of our former conveniences. Now we must either pay a tax rate higher than the server minimum or move our /home location to somewhere likely useless to us.

As far as solutions for this go, besides a blatant "/opt out of country system" command, perhaps instead of giving countries an adjustable tax rate, they could receive a fixed percentage of what would otherwise go to the server. For example, if the base server tax went back up to 10%, then with this system somebody who lived in an unclaimed realm would pay 10% of their credits to the server. However, if this same person's realm was later claimed by a country, only 5% of their credits would go to the server, while the other 5% would go to their country's fund.

Implement something like this, and those who don't like the system won't have to be directly affected by it, and those who do will still be able to enjoy it to its fullest extent.

Without a way to exclude my realm from this system, i can only say "no"!
EXACTLY. This is why countries suck.

Mostly the complaints see, to stem from being 'controlled' by someone, taxes, and being 'controlled' by NTC. I dont mind being owned by a country, they cant change how i play minecraft, all it is is a tag on my realm 'owned by ___' i think the worry comes from when a powerful country takes control of your area, then jacks tax up to 25%, on top of the server 5% your paying 30% taxes. It could also be a problem with trade, you want to buy a diamond for 100rc, you pay the guy, and he gets 60rc and complains because you didnt pay him what you owed.

I say fix the server taxing so it deducts your credits after the transaction, so if you pay someone 100 rc, they get 100rc but you lose an extra 10 on top of that.

And i dont know how people will react to taxes yet, seeing as how i dont think anyone has max taxes and people arent losing much to it, we will just have to see.

Countries are OK, but although I joined in 3.0 and never heard of what 2.0 was like until recently, I really really like the old style. Also, for a long time, I've been focusing on expanding my realm, but the addition of countries kinda overrides my priorities. I'd rather have one or the other.

Basically. And if you look at option D (the winning option) from that official poll, a country system was explicitly mentioned by Intelli as a possible feature for D.
