I am now even more opposed to this idea than I was before. Previously I had thought there was no connection between the current economy/realm system and the country system, so all you had to deal with was being called "citizen" of god knows what. But now it turns out that taxes are deducted, then as soon as some jerk comes along and annexes your own realm into his "country", he gets the automatic right to tax you into the ground whenever you try to trade. Charming. Now you have 2 choices: Save 50,000rc to buy a pointless country, which will most likely get taken over anyways, or sell the realm you've worked hard on and move to somewhere you hope the countries won't get to soon.
This completely kills anyone who wants to act as an independent or as a small group. I play Minecraft to: A) socialize and B) build. I do not play minecraft to participate in "Clan Wars", or simulate real world political/economical relationships. Honestly, seeing how factions have appeared to weaken the community and inspire hatred among players, I don't know why we encourage large groups by beating down smaller ones. Countries have a negative effect on building because they make materials more expensive.
We may as well start calling ourselves a faction wars server.
