I am now even more opposed to this idea than I was before. Previously I had thought there was no connection between the current economy/realm system and the country system, so all you had to deal with was being called "citizen" of god knows what. But now it turns out that taxes are deducted, then as soon as some jerk comes along and annexes your own realm into his "country", he gets the automatic right to tax you into the ground whenever you try to trade. Charming. Now you have 2 choices: Save 50,000rc to buy a pointless country, which will most likely get taken over anyways, or sell the realm you've worked hard on and move to somewhere you hope the countries won't get to soon.

This completely kills anyone who wants to act as an independent or as a small group. I play Minecraft to: A) socialize and B) build. I do not play minecraft to participate in "Clan Wars", or simulate real world political/economical relationships. Honestly, seeing how factions have appeared to weaken the community and inspire hatred among players, I don't know why we encourage large groups by beating down smaller ones. Countries have a negative effect on building because they make materials more expensive.

We may as well start calling ourselves a faction wars server.

An important note on country security has been added to the first post in this thread. Make sure you read that.

just feel like adding the first bit of positive feed back =), i think it is a good idea provided there is a cap to realm conqured, im sure people wouldnt bother conqurering little settlements(roughly 4-6 realms) out in the map. also this means that the tax is dropping for people not part of a country (i think) from %10 - %5. and yes it does make factions for defined but i find that part fun =D, if you dont like it then you dont have to be part of a faction and therefore pretty much un affected by countries. =)

I'll just say, 25% tax is hardly that ridiculous - also, there aren't any in-game countries that have yet set the rate that high.

To note, in real-life, there are countries that have GST/VAT that's 20% or higher.

Also, the base tax rate has been lowered to 5% - so, in theory, you can now be taxed LESS than what you were being taxed before.

Although I understand that some people don't want to be part of political relations and being tugged from side to side with potentially more taxes, however, I really do love this idea. This develops clan warfare from just camping around portals (not complaining about camping) to a much larger system of dispute-settling. Although to be fair, newbies won't stand a chance.

However, I just want to ask: Is there a map of some sort, or one being worked on, that marks out where each countries borders are? Because the last thing I want to do is place my country in a place where the only people to screw with are Exodus, NTC and other large factions. As you'd probably guessed, this is tactically not smart.

I can see possible issues arising, now that people will be under different tax rates, to do with trading- since people can now be getting anywhere between 75% and 95% of the amount paid to them by another player. If people continue to negotiate in before-tax amounts without making the tax rate clear, disputes could get nasty if someone receives 75,000 credits when they were expecting 90,000+

I'm wondering if there will be exponential growth of any specific country even with greater resistance as that particular country goes. Meaning, that a country would be unstoppable if it grew too big (?). I don't think we really know yet, but if it happened to be if a single country was in control for too long of a time, could there be a "country reset" every so often as to give everyone new chances?
