Hey everyone,

Should the party chat be replaced by a country chat?

This would allow you to easily chat to other citizens of the same country. Additionally, this makes it easier to lodge complaints about tax rates, etc, to the country leaders.

If you really need to chat to a specific player, there's /msg.
Also, chances are, if you're building with other players, you'll have your /home set in the same area, and ultimately be in the same country - so you can just use the country chat like you would the party chat.

If you really need a private chat for multiple players, well, most people already utilize Skype for this.

At any rate, vote, and also post your vote reason below.

Thanks!

Nope, we're not adding an additional chat. Especially when adding a separate country chat would make the party chat mostly useless.

This.

And please don't say use /msg. Trying to talk to more than 2 people using /msg and /reply gets hopelessly out of hand.

I'd prefer if we had both country and party chats, but if I had to choose one or the other I'd definitely go with party chat. The current party chat system is much more useful than I can see a country chat being. If you really want to speak to the dozens of players likely to be online within a country, why not just use the regular chat?

Country members can join the party, and it amounts to more or less the same thing. Also, country members could use skype, and people from different countries can make a party to go hunting and the like.

So I say keep party.

I agree with all of this. I was going to suggest having both before I saw that suggestion be rejected. I think the party system is more useful. Country chat could easily be simulated by creating a party chat channel and adding all the country members. However, party chat could not be so easily simulated within a country chat system, since for many players this would involve needing to move their /sethome.
