Here's some stuff I did in creative single player. I didn't put much thought into this building's size, shape, or materials, so these could be varied; the main point of my idea is a concept rather than a specific design or appearance. The basic idea is that players spawn in a flying building high above the ground, then drop through a chute to land in a pool of water (the pool would be larger than the chute, to minimize risk of hitting land instead of water). In retrospect, a rectangular building would've worked better than a round one for incorporating the rules hallway and (optionally) the sealed-off trade room--I think this screenshot does an adequate job of showing the concept, however.

A few features to note:
  • Current size is 16x16; it could be scaled up to fill the entire allotted size, if desired.
  • Elevated starting position lets new players see much of spawn city as they begin their time in MineRealm.
  • Open area around pool allows players to leave the area in whichever direction they choose
  • Multiple options for trade room location: built below drop-down chute and separated from chute by glass walls, or built under/around pool and separate from pool by glass ceiling/walls. Either option would fully separate the trade room from the rest of spawn city, and either option would provide trading players with entertainment from spawning players (either seeing them drop down the chute, or seeing them hit the water).
  • Multiple options for rule signs: placed on walls wrapping around part of the room (as shown in screenshot), or in a hallway that partly protrudes from the rest of the building.
  • Optional walls around drop-down chute could eliminate chance of hitting ground instead of water

Well since the Server is down I played around in Creative and this is what came out of it, perhaps it is usable perhaps not, at the very least it could give some inspiration.

And Overview from above, I wasn't in Spawn city for quite a while but I think it would fit in at least halfway and if not blocks can be switched out.

I have two ideas for the design of the entrance, A is a bit slower to walk and more tedious but I personally prefer it while B is quicker but I don't like it as much from an aesthetic point of view.

Variation A:

This is what you see when you spawn the first time, you simply follow the tunnel one time around the circle and you are out of it, since the rules are in that corners they are pretty hard to miss.

Variation B:

Once again what you see when you spawn, the circle around the "elevator" is smaller so it is faster to skip by the rules and get out.

The rules are in the straigt walls between the corners on eyeheight so still hard to miss. They are split up on two walls that you have to pass by to get out.

This is the exit, perhaps ladders instead of water would be better because of speed.

Once outside there are 4 boards with the rules and you can simply walk off in one of 4 directions giving it a more open feeling in my opinion.

The Tradezone is in the upper part but I wasn't there for quite some time so I don't know if it fits or not, there are 4 public chests and 4 rooms to trade, although we could build 4 more rooms on top of the current building.

And last one of the trade-rooms, may be a bit small but we can simply make the middle parts smaller to make the trade-rooms bigger.

All in all the things is 25 x 25 big and needs to be put 1 block into the ground as in the space the players are walking on on the lowest part is 1 below the ground. And hope I didn't use too much pictures.

This is my proposed spawn building:

- Two Floors. Glowstone lighting. Stone Block construction. Wood floors. Lots of Glass Windows.
- First Floor is a Welcome Center. It has several work stations with furnaces and enchanting tables. Can be outfitted with more stuff.
- Second Floor has Spawn Room and Trade Room. The trade room is separate from the Spawn Room.

Total Size:
27x26 blocks

The spawn area could be made of glass and wood. I have also learned from experience that sandstone looks great as flooring, in all texture packs, I might add. Making it of wood would require a type of pattern of wood types (possibly layers).
A glass roof would look great, even better with a spherical shape. The server rules and information could be along a wall, and there should be a path (possibly red wool) to it. The exit could be an arch. Glowstone as light would be a plus.

The trade room would be lit up with lava in the walls, held in by glass blocks. The trading stalls could be in a row, like it is now. The tutorials could be along the opposite wall. Making the floor made of cobblestone/stone bricks/red bricks would really work; the floor would look better with that kind of pattern. Anything not lit by the lava "lamps" would be lit by more glowstone.

I sincerely hope you consider my conceptual design :D
