On another note, so many people what a map wipe because the last partial wipe broke the map.
There was also a vote after the map wipe, guess what the outcome was.

You think this would change with a wipe? Big factions will get the land first and we'll be back to the same situation within a week.

I honestly have to say, both have their ups and downs. It's cool to have a fresh start and it's a lot better looking then all the randomness. But then again, there's been so much effort put into the current map with the subway and all. And it's all expected to be there in the future. It's 50/50 really. If there was another poll, I'm sure a wipe would get voted down right away. But if I was the one running the server, I'd go with whatever's easiest and less time consuming.

Sorry for starting this argument again. I just figured that IFF Intelli can't retrieve the old data, there's always the option of a restart on the new server.

Trust me, I don't want a map wipe either. I own four realms. I just finished the Netherrail and was getting ready to make a forum post about it. That was a major project I'd hate to see go poof. I'm just saying if the data is lost or inaccessable it may be out of Intelli's control.

Thanks for your patience!
The update is appreciated! If the data is in fact lost, may we know the name of the current provider? If anyone else is using them it would be nice to know what they think of customers accessing their data.

Also I'd like to suggest using a 3rd party for an offsite backup. Either a friend or one of the many services out there. (I know it doesn't help at this moment, however. )

Here are the new server specs intelli posted

Quad Core Xeon 1270 - 3.40GHz (Sandy Bridge)
16 GB DDR3 1333
50GB Micron RealSSD P300 SSD
100Mbps port
Hosted in SoftLayer

Interestingly enough, it seems that softlayers website is down http://www.softlayer.com/

and i know it was working because i checked it yesterday. Maybe the issue wasnt so much the server sending too many packets as softlayer decided to go the way of sony?

That isn't who hosts the server we can't access.

If I recall correctly, Codero has been the host since Intelli had put channels on separate physical servers. I'm around 75% certain of this.

I used to be against a full wipe.

But after the 1.0 wipe, everything looks bleh. There's so much to gain from starting over. I rarely get on anymore because the whole map just feels kind of used. I agree with those that say new year, new map. Its about time anyway.

This.

Codero is our current host, SoftLayer will be the new host.
