If you had read it, then you'd understand that it's full of people making bad mistakes and those "horrific" and "gross" things are the result of people's actions.

I am confused by the "Man + Brother's Widow" one too. Specifically, why they cited Genesis when Deuteronomy 25:5-6 is much more clear in ordering that.
If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no child, the wife of the dead shall not marry without unto a stranger: her husband's brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of an husband's brother unto her.

And it shall be, that the firstborn which she beareth shall succeed in the name of his brother which is dead, that his name be not put out of Israel.
I am also going to give my standard warning when discussions come up that could provoke flame wars. If you have a rational, calm discussion about a controversial subject, I have no problem with it. If you try to devolve it into a flamewar, I will wield the ban hammer to eliminate you from the conversation.

In regard to the "Rapist + His Victim", 50 silver shekels was about equivalent to 200 day's wages. I have no clue where $13 came about from. Also, it says in the passage that the man may never divorce the woman because he had violated her. It was expected that he support her for the rest of his days.

Some idiot decided to make up a story and everyone was so gullible that over time, it became to be known as "Religion."

Sry Prodigy, but i agree wholeheartedly with ChronicTacos.

I would have worded it more diplomatically, but truth is truth.

EDIT - I don't think the whole thing is fake. The bible started out as a very good almanac.

That's not true.
I've had many conversation regarding this topic in real life.
As long as people agree to disagree, it's fine.
Nothing wrong with hearing everyone's side of story and their opinions.

Edit: @cirjohn
Although I don't believe in religion/bible, I still believe it does good to the world.
People have faith and it gives them strength.
Basically a placebo in my view.
