Voted no to a full wipe, as I have on every other poll. At this point, it's not even surprising that the "no" option had more votes.

No. No. NO!

I've said it before and I will take the opportunity to say it again. I will not rebuild Roanoke on this server. Far too many hours into it to see it all wiped away because a few are losing some Redstone work. That's the only reason this poll even exists now.

How many of these polls have already been shot down? The full map wipe ones? Isn't this like the fourth or fifth?

I completely agree.

Honestly this whole wipe thing is about people wanting spawn realms.

There's nothing preventing people from changing every single block within their own realms. so what if it's ugly when you bought it? You have the power to modify it. I've bought many many realms which most people skip over simply because they look like pitted out wrecks with 1x cobblestone towers to the skylimit, and every diamond long gone from xrayers. I bought them for the location, not the resources. If you want resources, there's a crazy amount of space out there to mine from. Even before the wipe I was constantly finding fresh caves to mine from which no xrayer or other player had ever touched.

The people who are for the wipe just want to get a chance at a spawn realm. I've been pretty successful in getting 4 prime realms within 300 blocks of spawn, all of them since September. It's not impossible to do. If you count what I've traded and sold, I've had around 8 realms within 400 blocks of spawn.

If you want survival go off in to the forest somewhere with nothing and start over in some cave. Nothing says you cant. Want a complete refresh of your area? Start a spawn. I'm sure 80% of the people asking for a full wipe haven't even explored the full map. There really is a crazy amount of land out there.

If you're just after a shot for a spawn realm, at least you guys could be honest about it.

And I'm sick of people using the argument of 'so that everyone gets an equal chance' for a map wipe.

If you wanna start from nothing, there is nothing whatsoever preventing you from walking to immaculate, untouched land and starting from scratch right there, and there's very little chance anybody else's level of wealth or development will affect you. There's no need to bomb everybody else too.

I've been here since gen 1 and lived through multiple maps and losing my work didn't give me any sense of euphoria. Most of the map was wiped very recently, there's all that to explore anew. If you've already covered every inch of that vast area of land and everything beneath it, and already desperately need yet another new map already, I don't know what to say except have your house checked for weird fumes.

I've played here for a year. Been though every wipe. We rebuilt.

Before, wipes were the inevitable, as they should be. A necessary end. We lost everything, but in return were given the opportunity to began anew. Find better surroundings, make different decisions, explore a landscape that was completely fresh and unexplored.

Also, "great and terrible tragedy" is an entire city being bombed. A map wipe in a game is a minor inconvenience that you don't notice after a couple of weeks.

I've been here since Minerealm 1.0, the very first Survival map, where the previous admins Yuushi and Lios reigned. In 1.0, we built many great cities, homes, and places. From the far desert city of Tinderbox, to the great walled city of Frogtown, beyond the borderless no mans land of great and hidden empires, we built, and we loved to build. We never considered the possibility of a map wipe, we simply loved everything so much.

Yet I logged on one evening to be in a new world.

It would become 1.2, after some form of map corruption rendered our cities, our homes, our entire map worthless. So we started over, without choice and with aimless abandon we built again. Deep down we knew it wouldn't be permanent, but we built again. We had none of this realm protection. We barely had PVP. Our defenses were our ingenuity and our ability to design clever traps and hide our chests well, and repair damage from any griefers who chose to steal our things.

I don't really remember the specifics of the 1.0 era after the original map was torn into digital dust. I built a great fortress into a mountain, where Cheez99, bcw81, and others lived alongside myself. We named it Cliffhanger, and it was a glorious land we believed safe.

Safe, but unprotected, and sadly, erased.

Cheez and I left for a while, following Yuushi and Lios to their server after learning its location. I lost faith in Intelli at the time, not understanding the drama that unfolded. I appreciate the things he did now, but I had no idea then, and simply walked away.

We ended up back here after I heard Minerealm had large area protection. We were constantly griefed at Yuushi's server, and we were almost sick of Minecraft. We returned in awe, and fell in love with Minerealm again.

It was the towards the middle of 2.0 It was a new era. A new world.

Our homes and cities were gone again, but we forged ahead, and created New Tinderbox. Alexandria. Willowside.

Cities we'll never see again, but will have a fondness for in our memories. There's many things from 2.0 I'd love to see again. From the great walls of Terranobyl, to the cratered realms of Novasbiscuit, there's a world I somewhat miss.

Yet I regret nothing in moving on into 3.0.

It allowed me to begin again, to start anew, and build new empires. I moved on from 1.0, from 2.0, and now I've moved on mostly from this 3.0/4.0 mashup. I've built empires in this land, I've seen cities and realms toppled, and I've sold all of my original realms. I bought the stronghold in an attempt to start with new area, yet it was crammed in the middle of several old realms.

Overall, while it can be sad to see our vast cities and projects be extinguished in seconds by Intelli, it's truly worth it. Every wipe has brought on a truly new world. A brave new world. Untouched, unexplored, and ripe for the picking.

I hope everyone will take this to heart. It's one of the few things I'll take the time to write about.

I urge you to join me in the idea of seeing a new world, and let's explore it together with eyes wide open.
Take a second to let go to what you are attached to in this world, and look at the bigger picture. A bigger picture comes with time, and experience. For someone to see the picture, they have to think about more than just their personal attachments, and think about what is best for the server. The above two quotes are from experienced players who have gone through this before. Take the time to read what they have to say. A map wipe really is for the better.

And remember, you can still always change your vote.

So instead of saying "I would be bothered by a wipe," you decided to use words that typically being to mind horrible, life-ruining incidents?

Aside: Thanks Phys. And if we could get that map expansion, both problems would be fixed...

If I hadn't already voted against this awful idea, your wall of text would've convinced me to do so.

That's an awfully immature and self absorbed way of thinking and acting.
