This is essentially just a suggestion for Intelli, since this is his server and he does the programming.
I know that there had been thoughts of implementing a new system to make our playing experience both unique and more entertaining. One of those systems was a country system. It seemed split between how many people were excited about the prospect of spreading their influence and having territory wars and how many people despised the idea of having their realms stolen out from under them.
Even though I think the country system as it stood was intriguing, I fell into the latter group of players. However, I was letting my mind wander tonight and came up with an idea that may fit the bill for everybody.
With this new Country system you would be able to have 2 kinds of ownership over the 50x50 realm plots currently in place.
The first kind of ownership would be the Realm Purchase. It's already in place and is perfect the way it is. The player who owns it keeps it private and is the only one with building/demolishing rights and can give the rights out as they see fit. Nothing changes here at all.
The second kind of realm ownership would be the Realm Annex. When you Annex a realm, it officially becomes part of your country (whether it be you or a party you formed the country with). However, this does not mean you gain any building/demolishing rights or access to private chests or any of the privileges that come with the Realm Purchase. It would only come with one gameplay benefit, taxes.
My thought is that when you have Annexed a realm, for every block that is destroyed or built on that realm, the player who Annexed it would receive 0.1 credit. So if I annexed my neighbor's realm, and he mined 10 blocks, he would still get his 5 credits (.5 per block) but I would also earn 1 credit.
You can even Annex a public land and still reap the .1 credit per block.
This would make higher traffic areas with constant rebuilding very desirable places to stake an Annex claim.
You can set the Annex price at whatever you think is fair. If you set it at 1000cr, it would take 10000 blocks built/destroyed to break even. 2000cr would take 20000 ect....
With this system, you can set it up that others may be able to steal Annexed land from you. You can do it in simple increments (ie the first Annex is 1000, but to steal it from someone it would cost you 2000, then 3000 ect.) or you can do a free number system which is what the original idea seemed like.
This way the Kings and Queens of Minerealm can play their games of territorial conquest, while peasants like myself don't have to worry about losing our hard earned land.
And I don't know a lick about programming or anything, so this idea could be completely preposterous as far as I know.
