I'm just putting this out there because I think once Minecraft fully launches, we'll get a large influx of members. It's better to have more forum mods on hand to handle it than risk not enough.

With my experience with forums (years), I ought to be able to do well.

I don't know if this means much, coming from me, but he has definitely got what it takes to be a forum moderator. Kress is always on the forums, so I support this. Even though, I got off on the wrong foot with you kress, this won't change my opinion. Good luck!

Quite a few bans are ignored until the admins (most notably Kero) decide that they've been banned long enough.

To further elaborate on what Cogohst said, Forum Moderators have no decision making ability toward the server related ban appeals. They can try and extinguish ban appeal flame wars early on, but they can't make the actual decision to unban someone. Forum Mods are really just peace keepers and glorified janitors to clean up the random spambot spills on Lane 5.

I vote yes, as long as you don't become the new lightbulbs of the forum and give nothing but negative feedback.
Positive reinforcement is great, especially on the bans forum. People don't need to be told what NOT to do, they just need to know what to improve.
