Can we have some OFFICAL rules for the nether, laid out by intelli? all these made up ones are becoming confusing and many people are fighting about them... This would help alot in the wars within the nether... and normal PVP as well.

We need some hard, fast rules here, not ones made up on the spot that are forgotten a couple days later.

It looks like the issues here did come up over confusion about the rules. There are two basic facts that are at play here.

1) Portal camping has been decreed, by Intelli, to be against the rules if it is around any portal connecting near a spawn, or any portal that you did not make yourself, as posted here.

2) Due to this being announced inside another thread, some people may not have seen this post. Additionally, may people have given different takes on what they think the rule is, some accurate, and some inaccurate. This further caused confusion.

Because of the confusion, I am going to unban kylefate. However, portal camping is still against the rules. I consider portal camping to be killing someone in the area immediately around a portal. I make no distinction in in you have been sitting at it long term, or if you just arrived. Killing people in the zone immediately around it is considered camping, and is a bannable offense.

I will be working on getting a post up this weekend to try to help ameliorate some of the rule confusion. Until then, rely on the definition of portal camping that I just posted.

Well, at least we have an admin-verified rule on portal camping for now.

The main thing is how to enforce the rules without the staff going ban-happy every time there's a perceived infraction (with or without proof).

I agree with this. There have been many arguments over the exact rules of the nether(i have been in multiple). To prevent us all from getting "Minegranes" and getting in pointless arguments, there should also be official rules on the nether.

We need an information center at spawn, protected and PvP-free!

It's time for the nether to have official rules. We cant go on with these Hersey Rules that the Big Faction sets up and trys to bully people to enforce, without enforcing it themselves. That's NOT how it is supposed to go. Ceteri says greifings illegal, but yet can greif other factions buildings while calling a mod to check theirs and requesting bans? No.

I think its about time that OFFICIAL Rules are set by staff. No Gray Areas, no whining about this sides cheating or so-and-so is logging in and out for invincibility, no asking if channel hopping is legal/illegal.

Not a flame, but if you didn't want to start one, leave the personal conflicts out of it. You can provide examples without making a person or group look like incarnates of the Devil.
