Post any ideas / suggestions for the game servers here.

You can make a similiar setup with two redstone repeaters facing in different directions and some redstone wire. No torches = no burnout.

The thing is with the already existing server lag that is present redstone circuits fire really slow. The pulsars would already be slowed down quite a bit just because of the lag. Is it still possible for them to cause more lag at that point?

If by "burnout" you mean when a torch is used to invert the source from on to off, there are a ridiculously large number of circuits that use that...including all gate types, I think.

I can't think of what else you could mean by burnout...

Laike, look up burnout on http://www.minecraftwiki.net.

From what I've seen, server lag has no effect on a rapid pulser. Also, could you put up a pic of a repeater only pulser? I can't imagine how that would work.

Although this convo is clearly only for those who know quite a bit about redstone(perhaps i should be the only one posting in this thread?), I will explain even though you are too lazy to even look it up on the wiki.

Burnout is basically when you attempt to toggle a torch on and off too fast. When that occurs the torch itself shuts off for a moment and ignores all inputs. It also makes a little hissing noise when it does. Thus the torch "burns out" for a moment.

What you are referring to is a not-gate or an inverter.

Edit: wrote before but posted after CirJohn, so this is to his post.

A repeater only pulsar isn't really a pulsar although you can get 1-clock time off it(or really whatever time you want). There should be designs on the wiki you already linked to as well...

Repeater only clocks are a pain though. They can't actually start themselves so every time they are loaded into active memory you have to manually start them or have a clock with a torch start them, they are unable to start themselves, so it is really more like an endless loop than a true clock.

I searched "burnout" on the wiki without finding an explanation, but after the last couple posts, I tried "burn out" (with a space)...

In any case, I now understand what burnout is. :)

And I agree with the idea. I can't think of any circuits that wouldn't work without torch burn out.
