Idea: Require a forums account on all channels except one or two. That way those servers run faster and are only used by those who have committed to MineRealm by setting up a forums account. There would be no barrier to those who wish to look around with no ties to the server and those who are just starting, but would improve performance for serious MineRealmers.

That's... partial whitelisting. Not sure if I should up vote or slam the door in your face...

It wouldn't necessarily have to be run like a whitelist. If the IP of the channel w/o forum requirements is the only IP listed in advertisements for the server, then it wouldn't be like a whitelist. People could join the advertised server and have full building rights just like they've always been able to do. As long as the forum requirement channel's IP isn't advertised except in this forum, we won't have any cases of players being kept out of the server by this "partial whitelisting."

That's an even better idea than mine. Just only give out the ch1 IP address and only discuss channels on the forums. BrillIant! Now when trolls/greifers/idiots join and don't visit the site won't know about the channels!

Loving this set of ideas! i think the shop idea brought up at the end of page 5 by RyGuy130 is smart, it would help the cross-channel trading a lot as well since it would sync across channels with the right coding. I hope this is implemented well, and works better! see y'all in november on the emptier channels! :P

Airlie, I also like the idea of an automated non-item-spawning shop, though I suspect it will be considered "too chocolatey" for a server that tries to be legit. Certainly doesn't hurt to throw the idea out there though.
