For those saying it's not "vanilla", it does not modify gameplay in any way.

To note, pretty much any online multiplayer game with a large number of players has multiple channels. This isn't optional, and is a necessity to be able to maintain a large number of players on the server.

At any rate, this topic isn't to decide if it is going to be implemented. It will be implemented in November; we're just looking for feedback on the various aspects of the system, to ensure that it's implemented properly and doesn't cause any type of issues.

Also to note, people are not meant to interact across servers. They can chat with eachother, but there's not meant to be any other cross-channel interaction beyond that. If players want to build together, they should be on the same channel.

But this isn't "other" multiplayer games. This is Minecraft, and especially on a server like Minerealm were community interaction is essential. 420, Hempin', TIBOL, Shamp's, NTC, Purgatory, and a bunch of other stores will all most likely suffer.

I really hate this idea, and I'm sure any other shoppers/shop owners would too.

Also people could follow you into places that you don't want them to go but you can't see them because they are on another channel. Let's say I quickly open the entrance to my wheat farm to get in but on another channel someone slips through and starts stamping on my wheat. How are these kinds of things going to be dealt with?
You're not invisible on the same server. As Intelli said, there will be multiple servers, with different ip addresses. The only thing linking them in your game experience is the chat feature, which allows players across servers to communicate. Every block you remove or place will update across the servers, so no matter which one you log into, your items and creations are there.

In regard to trading, this seems to be the only issue, as it appears the players will have to be on the same server in order to /trade with each other. Not necessarily the end of the world, as all it requires is a server hop, however it may, and probably will, become a bit of a nuisance to those who trade a lot.

yes I agree with those saying this is going to be a hassle for people who trade, sell, or interact/build with people constantly.


If there is no room on one of the channels that means people will most likely have to hop to another channel. Personally I think the easiest way to fix this is to have a set channel for trading and selling. That means if you want to buy something or trade you go onto the channel that has that, and there will be other people looking to trade and sell. This channel will most likely not be filled up, because I am sure that not everyone will want to trade and sell at the same time. Also this means shop owners/shoppers will use this channel more often then those who build/mine instead of buy items.

I believe my idea will be a great solution, and to Intelli. If this is only for discussion and it WILL definitely be implemented, then what is the point of us discussing it at all. You have already set your mind on it, and we all know that you definitely don't have to read/care about what we think. Even though many have commented on it, and you have addressed that it is only for you guys to make sure it is implemented correctly.

Now isn't that the same thing as saying that unless someone says something that reveals a major flaw with the channels system you won't really care. That basically means that even though people have pointed out that the channels will decrease the ability to trade/work together with your freinds, and most likely make it to where people are more of hermits. I get that we normally don't have say in what happens, but that is because we aren't the ones paying for the server. Yet I still think it is quite pointless to have a thread where people state their opinions, even though you just stated that it WILL happen and basically saying our opinions have no say.

I am sorry if this comes across as a direct attack. It is NOT I am just stating what I believe is a valid point in the reason as to why you wanted anyone to comment here if it will not change what happens.

Splitting up a community doesn't usually end well. Just throwing that out there as I have experience in that regards.

You say chat will be linked. Will you be able to transfer credits across channels? More details and some answers to some of the points brought up would be great. Thanks. :)

Only chat links, so trying to transfer rc will probably give the error that the player isn't online (not on same channel)

How will mobs work? will each channels mobs be independent from each other? or will they be persistent across servers?

Couldn't this cause problems like keeping massive herds of sheep on both servers?
Again, it will be weird seeing mob items drop randomly.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to this and I'm hoping to gather up some money with my friends in order to get an Australian MineRealm channel!
