It seems like everybody is convinced that 1.9 is coming out within the next few days, but I can't seem to figure out why. As far as I can tell, there haven't been any updates to the original mid-October release date. There is a 1.9 prerelease out, but it has very few of the features announced to be in the actual 1.9. Plus, 1.8 hasn't even been out for two weeks now.

So, my question to everyone is, am I missing something or is everyone simply so eager for 1.9 to come out that they've tricked themselves into believing it's happening early?

If you have any evidence that 1.9 is actually coming out sooner than originally planned, please cite it with a link to an official source.

Erm... 1.8 had a pre-release and was out within a few days afterwards.. Im pretty sure if it were not near ready, that they wouldnt have given us a prerelease of 1.9. That being stated, 1.8 came out then BOOM 1.8.1 2 days later.. I think you underestimate the coding of the mojang team... just keep your eyes open for it and dont like freak out. either it will come soon or it wont.

Like I said, the prerelease that's out now is missing many of the features that are supposed to be in this update. It seems to me that this is just a way to get bug feedback on the new features that they did include in it. Also, the whole reason I made this thread is because most of everyone else seems to be "freaking out" because 1.9 is supposedly coming out. However, to me this reaction seems unjustified, so I wanted to see if anyone perhaps knows something I don't.

Proof you say?

The rest of the adventure update will be 1.10. I would guess it doesn't take too long to gather feedback and fix the few bugs that are in 1.9.

I do. Sometimes I miss a few things though, and this just happened to be one of the things I missed.
