Once I updated to 1.8 and 1.8.1 I have this bug where chests, signs, and mobs are all dark, no matter the light level it should be.

It has nothing to do with any mods. I had this bug with a vanilla minecraft.jar but the screenshot shown has Zan's Minimap and Too Many Items, both of which would not cause this error.

Any ideas on how to fix?

Fixed. XD Sorry I tried to use another image host the first time and it didn't work.

I fixed the broken picture, not the bug, just to clear any possible confusion.

same thing with paintings there all pitch black and replacing them doesnt work

With this bug I can't read the new signs in the old foxtops realm!
