I propose that we build an official underground railway system.

This would be built between Y:29-35.

There would be a group of people designated to work on the system. These people would have access to build between Y:29-35, even within private realms.

I support the idea but I do have some questions about it.
Where would the official station be located? Will it be under spawn?
Will the railroad be constructed in a straight line* or be zigzagging** through realms?

If the official station is under spawn, will the final railroad system look like a + sign?
In another word, will the railroad go all the way to (+/- 5000x, 0z) and (0x, +/- 5000z)?

I'm in too, I've got a spare supply of around 100 rail pieces plus 15 powered rail sections. Which is nothing compared to the scale of the project but every little helps I guess.

this sounds like an amazzing idea, but the sheer size of the job is the problem, the amound of tracks and powered tracks may be hard to get and what of greifers?
But maybe you could charge a smalls RC fee to have the railway stop at your realm which would be an upside if you are a shop, or buissness, more thought definatley needs to be poured in but the idea is brilliant and im sure it would be the best railway system on minecraft if we get the amazing support of the players which im sure they'll give!

I have some old systems that were supposed to be prototypes for a future BLURS. As the number of members using classic drop significantly, they stayed unused.

Few Redstone/Rail devices.

Minecart dispenser - As one button is pressed a cart rolls out. Button is pressed X times, X carts roll out, etc.

Stop chooser (Junction) - Cart is stopped with two buttons in front of it, one sends the cart one way on the junction, the other sends the other way.

Lockdown (Junction add-on) - Enables the leader/members of the area that the junction leads to, to disable the junction. The cart will just sail past the location.

What's stopping us privatising the areas in which the underground system passes? That would eliminate the griefing problem.

Also we might need schematics to show on a map where the rail lines would be placed, which are the most important locations that should be connected on the underground system? etc.

It could always be constructed in such a way as it only connects to 3 or four major areas on the map, but realm owners could make up their own mind whether to build and connect an underground rail passage to that main network from their realm.

They have a Railway System on Godcraft, but I'm not sure how this one on Minerealm could work, seeming how most new players probably have no knowledge of how minecarts work. Problem: What if... someone gets out of the cart and leaves (/home, /spawn) midtravel, causing minecrashes and traffic. How many lanes would it be?

I've actually got a 4x4 tunnel at y27 already built. It's about 6000 blocks long and was intended to be a water highway, but got stopped due to private realms being built over the canal. It took me about 3 days to carve the whole thing out.

Anyway, if this goes down, I want to help.

This sounds cool. I am already working on a tunnel to spawn from New Liaguie, so I guess I could connect it here! This sounds like a major project though. It will take a ton of planning!
