This is ways better than the actual spawn even though some details could be improved (i.e. a better visible and straighter path to the info building). In my view it's also a bit too small-scale structured for a 100x100 area. Less but larger bodies of water and less hills might be even nicer.

I'm going to try out some designs in SP in the coming days based on the linked map and post some screenshots. In case it comes to another spawn renovation, I'd be ready to supply with ideas and materials and help building (provided I'd be given perms).

With regards to TJ's post, I would like to see that happen

It's true I don't play MineRealm much... if at all any more, and I'm aware that my realms have disbanded. I simply don't have as much time to play games any more, let alone Minecraft. I tend to play MMO's or other things... though I still definitely lurk here on the forums.

Given the summer (Australian summer) holidays have just begun here I will have time, and would potentially be able to help build a design such as the one we proposed all those months ago. I'm not entirely sure what spawn looks like now, AFAIK the old Diamond Exchange realm disbanded when iBiS went inactive and the nice lake and park that was there was replaced by some kind of abomination... which is a shame because that kind of area nicely integrates into a plan such as this.

Whatever is placed on those realms, it cannot be too intimidating to new players, it cannot look so insane as to make them believe they have joined a creative server (although they'll soon think that given the insanity of many of the spawn builds), and it has to clearly guide them to and through the rules.

The spawn point is crucially important to player retention.

What's so hard about giving a few players privs and letting them build something. It won't take more than a day or so, if they work fast. And at least that way people (like me) will stop complaining about how crappy spawn is lol
