I cleared out a section of netherack the other day, up near the ceiling. I mined something like 75,000 blocks based on the credits I received (so say 150L x 50W x 10H volume) and found 2.5 stacks of quartz ore. There is plenty of ore left if you're prepared to mine for it, and with Eff III Unb III picks being insta-break on netherack and lasting 6000'ish block breaks each, it isn't particularly onerous to mine there.

There was a time when I would have supported this. That was before I appreciated the countless hours of work that have gone into making the Nether the place that it currently is.

Also note that villagers trade glowstone ... it's really easy to get, and pretty cheap (around 800rc/stack) as a result.
To what TeeJay said about the Nether Quarts, they are as common in the Nether as iron is in the Overworld. If you have the time to mine, then do so in a large area. Also you could get silk touch pick and/or fortune pickaxe to mine the Nether Quarts.

SilsuCrow wrote:You mean a criss-crossed maze of stripmined Netherrack and hollowed out caverns filled with long abandoned structures?
No, I mean an extensive network of roads, ice paths and railways. I mean developed blaze grinders. I mean wither skele pads that have been built and optimised for wither skeleton spawns.

If the stripmined netherrack annoys you, get to and mine it out and build something you like there. Do what you want with it. And if you believe a structure is abandoned and have reason to remove it, ask Staff to look at it for you and you may well be given permission to do so.

Of course you are. There's no other way to define what you've asked here.
SilsuCrow wrote:Not everyone has villagers, not everyone has ways to transport villagers 'cross map to their base
Not everybody has XP farm spawners either. But this isn't an argument for making them more plentiful. All I'm saying is that you would have these things if you worked for them.

You tell ME if my base is remote: http://game.minerealm.com:12500/?worldn ... 9999999995

But am I complaining about how remote it is? No. I chose to be here. And I've spent the last week creating a 5 kilometer road (and boy are my arms tired) - both underground and at the surface specifically for the purpose of making my ridiculously remote UNDERWATER base more accessible.

Help yourself man - nobody's stopping you from making your base more accessible.
SilsuCrow wrote:not everyone has the time, resources or luck to slog through the Nether for Quartz. What people do have though are credits which can and should be used to purchase things from the server.
I'm a very liberal person politically. And even I think this sounds like a handout to somebody who doesn't have the motivation to help themselves. I don't care if you don't have the time - I don't make the time to learn Italian, but that doesn't mean the world has to stop speaking it for me to be on the same level as them.

Maybe we should just make it so when you log in you're presented with 100 plots, 5 xp farms, fully upgraded diamond gear, and an infinite supply of every item... Then you can say "yup - I win" and promptly log back out.

It's a game man. Play it.

SilsuCrow wrote:It legitimately boggles my mind how we have a base currency, the means to, via vanilla, spawn in items, and we don't have a way to turn these credits into items. Why is this not a thing?
Intelli wrote:MineRealm is one of the longest running public servers available. We offer a "legit" gameplay experience. Absolutely no items are ever spawned by staff - everything you see on the server has been built properly by hand.

I voted yes and I can give you some very valid reasons why it should be wiped.

1). All the nether fortresses are messed up and wither skeleton spawning zones are harder to find.

2). Most worlds are much bigger than minerealm including a bigger nether in which minerealms nether is only around 500x500. Do you know how small that is?

3). The nether ATM is super old, torn up and griefed.

One block in the nether equals 8 blocks in the overworld. I think we're fine.

That doesn't change the fact that a 500x500 or so nether can support an entire server for years and may need to be wiped at some point.

False, there are roads in nether that makes it easy to get to the pads where the skellies spawns, there are even signs that points you in the right direction, plus the pads themselves have been optimised and rebuilt to be easier to hunt at.

False, its 1250x1250 (10000/8 =1250)
monkeychunks wrote: 3). The nether ATM is super old, torn up and griefed.
It might be old, it might be griefed, but people have also put a lot of efforts into building roads and paths between bases. Depending on if you visit nether for the awesome view or for transport, I guess you can say its ugly or practical =)
