'Bumping' refers to the acronym Bring Up My Post (hence BUMP) and once posted will bring your thread to the top of the sub-forum, in this case the bans section. It helps staff keep track of active ban appeals, instead of forgetting about it completely. It is done by posting the word 'bump' on your appeal.
