The problem wasn't with our server, but with the Minecraft servers, they were wonky all day.

Server wasn't working for most of the day today... just timing out or showing some java exceptions, etc. When it does work it takes forever to get past the logging in... screen.

Guessing it's because minecraft.net itself is down

This is just ridiculous. We pay cash money for a game and the services for said game aren't delivered well! I understand it's in Beta, and that there are problems...but a game that is this big being down for a majority of the day? What?

I agree with you Friendo. But this is'nt minecraft's problem, i tried logging onto my server and i logged in just fine. It has to do something with this server...

We have authentication enabled. This requires communication with the minecraft.net servers. If we disabled it, then you could log-in instantly - however, then hackers could use any username they wanted.

And if any of you remember fake Notch from one of the previous temporary maps you'll know why we don't disable the username verification anymore. And also fake Intelli and jdankk.
