I was right with him until he started talking about gay people being "sexually confused" and how gay people have it soooo easy. Blehhh. I'm all for people being nice about bronies, but when they start talking about how we supposedly have it harder than gay people (even ignoring the horribly homophobic way he referred to them)? Ugghhh. No wonder the social justice community seems to dislike us so much.

EDIT: I just realized that it was Glenn Beck. Now the homophobia makes sense.

It all depends on where you're from. Some places homosexuality is accepted and some places it's outright banned. Comparing one to the other is difficult because the only similarities they hold is that some people have relatively negative opinions about it and so both (gays and bronies) can be "bullied" or abused for it. Being a brony doesn't make you gay, and being gay doesn't make you a brony. Though it's not often seen like that, and in locations where homosexuality is considered a negative or immoral thing, it can easily lead to problems.
It's not easy being either and someone somewhere will dislike you for it, but you like what you like.
That said, it's basically comparing apples to oranges. One doesn't have much, if any, effect on the other.

In a way you're right, but I think it's just really terrible to compare the type of bullying and oppression LGBT people experience to...well, anything really, because no matter what you compare it to, you're going to be trivializing something. In this case, Beck is perpetrating the idea some people have that everything's okay for gay people now, everyone loves them, etc. which is really not true.

If you want to talk more about it, PM me. I don't want any flaming here.

But I agree with you, and what you're saying isn't too far off from what I said. Also, I'm not flaming, I was just engaging in the conversation at hand and sharing my two cents.

I think he's worried about people besides you two popping in and causing problems. ;)

That's pretty poor judgement on your part. It's like waving a red flag in front of a bull.
People naturally have prejudices against things they either dislike or do not understand.
Why encourage them?

The schools are doing their part to try and stem bullying in any form.

True, but situation is a little different being in a private christian school.
Plus I'm almost a senior so I have the higher ground in any dispute.
If they even noticed, there would be such little chance that anyone would say anything about it.
