Just ban them now please........
Why? Because they are doing as they please with land they rightfully own and you don't like it?
Say's the guy who cried like a baby over the Mist....cause he didn't like it....

No, because they are no better than the nubs who come on and grief the place -.-
How so? The blocks will be sold and used by other players. Pretty much what Minecraft is about.

Mining blocks and crafting structures.

If you want tons of untouched land to admire, go play single player.

People are able to do whatever they want with their land, but it just looks so ugly. It's the perfect way to get your neighbors to hate you when they have a nice little house on a mesa hill and they have to look out and see a torn apart landscape when its so easy to just mine 1 block layer underneath the clay so it at least has a shell that keeps the landscape looking clean. Its seems to me like they're trying to make it look horrible.

I beg to differ, Minecraft doesn't have an economy by default.
Minecraft is what you make it to be, sandbox survival.
There are better ways to do this as PCgamer pointed out. At this rate the map will be back where it was before the wipe.
And lets be honest, it doesn't look good to new players either does it.
They see it and think it's OK to grief.

At the end of the day it's your server so who am I to argue.

Before and after pics. The before is the one without the Mesa, obviously
I must say looks extremely better from a distance

Possibly stupid question, but none the less curious. Will our realms be in the same place they would be in the new map as they would in the old one. If so I will be able to find my realms quite quickly.

Of course they are in the same place... Imagine how difficult and terrible it would look if they were randomly scattered across the land.

Just cropped em and moved them so they overlap.

I'm actually pretty surprised at how much public space there was & is. I don't suppose you have one of the original map >_<
