Does this include regular events besides LBG? Such as PVP, Horse Racing/Hurdles, Jousting, Etc?
I think having an array of events would also bring in people who, say, don't like PVP or LBG, but really like racing horses. I think it would lead to everyone being a little more close knit, and I'm voting yes under the assumption this means more events than LBG.

This is exactly what I was thinking. We could include many different events, BUT that should not all be the "Event Hosts" duty to create all these.

I propose that we have a system we go through for ANYONE to create Arenas, Horse racing stadiums, ect... We can have a page that allows people to "[suggest]" the next event on an "Event" tab in the Forums.

This would then allow the Host (Whoever gets elected) the chance to look over everything and determine when and where the next event will be taking place based on play-based suggestions on the Forum.

Intelli is too busy to be the host, so like I mentioned before, all this can be put on one (or maybe 2) people that are commonly on the server and have a fun, eventful attitude. I, personally, would love to be the host or one of the hosts for these events. I can plan out a daily, weekly, or monthly event based on the event page on the forums with suggestions from many different players who either own a place or know a friend that owns a place.

We could have the [Suggestion]'s on the event page have the location (X, Z) and a picture showing the place to further the voting for the next event.

(This "Host" would get all commands needed for anything associated with the events, making it practically avoidable for Intelli to get involved after the coding needed to do so. This give him the opportunity to focus on other things, while making the server a better place.)

Hmm.
I've been working on an ice rink that could be adapted to snowball fights, PVP, pretty much anything. That might be usable, perhaps? it is 16 by 28 blocks, divided in half with a 2 by 4 starting box for players on either side.

Technically we could start it on our own, it was kicked out of ideas/suggestions because it didn't really require staff involvement... So it doesn't need accepted to begin.
Once I finish my ice rink, I'll be glad to host regular games, perhaps set up a small hotel nearby.

River you have not mentioned the use of that command before in this thread. If you make a suggestion you have to be very very clear about what it entails. In general I would also like to see more events and stuff but this suggestion seems like it might be marked invalid because it doesn't require direct staff involvment. Anyone can host an event if they want, you should have put this in like a chat thread saying someone should get more organized about hosing.

"If we hired someone, we would simply give him/her the Perms to the land and also the commands that are needed" I wrote this, intending for it to be used as that. Also, I created this originally in the Suggestion thread and mentioned it to Intelli.

Or just give the "/setevent" command to the rest of the staff and allow some freedom for them to use it. I think they're responsible enough. It would remove the restraints from a single person having the responsibility.

This would help, but for LBG the players also need perms to the LBG Arena plots - as they would for the arenas of most styles of event gaming except perhaps horseracing. So while /setevent allows a TP point to be created, the event will still need to be hosted by the person who owns the plots, and they will need to manually give each player permissions to the appropriate plots.

This will likely be resolved when this accepted suggestion is implemented ... hopefully in MineRealm v5:

In the meantime, I might think about building a small-scale zombie pigman spawner under my 125/-125 realm, which also has a zombie spawner. It would be possible to create a below-surface arena that incorporates lava bucket games with the added element of zombies and zombie pigmen being released into the arena through various passages, plus some other groovy redstone devices that players can interact with to their detriment or benefit.
