What if spawn (6x6 to 8x8 platform) was raised 5 or so blocks above a pond you can jump into. Then when the mist starts, that small platform was protected, but with the inability to /spawn, so you can't /spawn to take advantage of that protection.

The only way you would be able to get on the platform was if you died. When the mist starts, it's fair game, anyone can kill anyone. But when you die, this allows the "dead" to stay out of harms way from the spawn campers.

Which renders spawn camping useless.

Being someone who actively avoids pvp due to my fps issues I could somewhat understand not wanting to be involved in "The Mist". I've been around for a few times while this event was active. Yes spawn campers during the event is an extreme annoyance, but I'm still going to have to go with this adding to the survival excitement. Like its been said before if you don't want to be involved just /home when you see it start. Also, if so many players are worried about losing their "precious items" then don't carry them all the time and only grab them when you want to trade.

Will this ultimately cause arguments/crying? Of course, but that happens anyways without the event. If people would stop and think about the ways that this can be avoided in-game then there shouldn't be an issue with this event. Build an afk box with dirt/whatever and go chill for the night and CHAT, relax.

There is more I could say about this, but it could be taken as a rude comment or two by some players, so I'll just stop here

Or you can just use the /time command every once in awhile, just get into your mind the time when night starts.
