I like the idea behind this mist. Its a clever way to make survival a little more spicy, but its just a spawn camp kill fest. Lets face it, you almost never see people out in the middle of nowhere on this server. So it just serves to frustrate people who like to hang around spawn fishing and chatting with people. Not to mention how many nubs will be taken unawares once they think they're safe at spawn and then get slaughtered by overpowered vets and just rage quit forever. As of right now the main results of this update is convincing people to stay away from spawn. A place where, I would think should be one of the more safer places on the server seeing as how it is the main hub for everyone who joins. The immediate spawn should be a neutral place.

I appreciate that the idea behind this is that players will feel a slight more weary in the outer reaches of the map and thus make survival a bit more exiting. In that regard I'm not wholly against the mist idea. I would prefer it not exist, but if it must remain it should definitely be tweaked. So as to make it so that there isnt the same group of 4 friends who just instakill everyone that respawns and or joins during the mist period. More quickly than we can hit /home. So something of a bubble of non pvp in a circle around the main spawn point would be sufficient. All in all I'll vote for its removal because it doesnt interest me, but it was added because someone did like the idea. Even if a majority us dont like it its ultimately not up to us.

Sorry to be a bit ignorant here, but what is this 'Mist?' I haven't encountered it yet.

I like it. It spices things up. Keeps you on your toes. Like Intelli said, one of the most exciting things about a players first days on Minecraft is the element of fear: getting hugged by a creeper, ambushed by a spider, slaughtered by a gang of skeletons and zombies. After you have your diamond armor, that element vanishes.

This brings back that "excitement".

And keep in mind this is coming from someone who's only gotten 1 kill after his 2+ years on this server.

What if somebody griefs into a public house, kills the person, then replaces the griefed blocks, without the killed person not able to report it because they didn't do /home fast enough. Also, players can just as easy open doors. This could cause a non-stop train to PVP as well. People waiting at spawn-Killed. Somebody waiting for you to /home, boom. Killed.

Too many what if's/ The point is that the mist is not going anywhere. It just needs a little tweaking at spawn.

Will the mist cause arguments? Of course, any pvp related game has arguments.

Will the mist cause a plethora of arguments? No, not at all.

I'm kinda mixed on this one.

A. It's nice to have something "fresh" on the server not just being a map wipe.
B. I live in Australia often with a 200+ latency.
C. Pvp in Minecraft = mash dat left mouse button with yo best suit of armour/weapons.
D. You can't /home to escape if you're on fire.
E. I live far enough away from spawn that this isn't an issue.

Having said that, I had an absolute ball for my first time ever PVPing on the server and Minecraft in general yesterday during "The Mist" and got a 9-0 ranking :P
Mind I was at home, grabbed some spare dia armour and a decent enchanted sword and ran to spawn via the nether and came in from behind all the action.

I think The Mist is a great addition, but for the sake of the new players, there needs to be a small grace area around spawn, or like a 10 second invulnerability after dying to give people the time they need to teleport home.

I willingly went to spawn the first time The Mist came to grab the achievement, but after dying it took about 5 or 6 deaths before I could actually escape the massacre.

This brings back a lot of the elements of the wilderness from 2.0 which is pretty cool, but its a big map and there wont be a lot of PVP outside of spawn. That's fine; but spawn camping is pretty low.

Yesterday was the first time I've pvp'd in minecraft. On any server. Ever.

It wasn't really any fun, but if I hadn't typed /spawn to intentionally go and fight I wouldn't have encountered any pvp at all. I don't think this mist is going to be a problem for anyone. It's super easy to avoid confrontation if you don't want any.

I voted no, at least give it some time, and some people seem to enjoy it.

I agree with the temporary invulnerability for new players completely, this way if somebody was camping spawn during the mist and a new player joins, they wouldn't rage quit immediately from being loop killed.
