I doubt that you'd have to step away to get the materials for the signs and hopper then place and write out the text. The pistons all you had to do was extend and break which would be much quicker since you already pulled them out in the first place.

That's one of the most hilarious bugs I've read about on Minerealm, I'm sure Tyranitar had fun doing it, and s/he has all the items still to give back.
It's not like he abused it to grief with sand or gravel falling like someone else was complaining about in chat today.

Even still thinking it was patched and trying anyway, then seeing it worked after one block should of been more than enough to cure the curiosity, then replacing it would of avoided the situation.
It's a simple thought to realize this is a exploitation of the realm system/pistons which should of clicked in that it was bannable in the first place, which should of also curbed you to not try it.
