Furthermore, the extra playerbase that I'm talking about isn't made up of people who leave because the rules are too restrictive. To the contrary, MineRealm's playerbase has always been comprised primarily of people who take full advantage of the rules as they are and no more, whether for good or ill. If the missing part of our playerbase is made of obnoxious munchkins, let them stay away.
TL;DR: This is about the hundred thousandth time someone has brought up this argument, and it's still as false as it was the first time.

The rule isn't "no swearing" it's "no swearing in PUBLIC CHAT".
Maybe we should inform people about buddy chat a bit more.
If people want to use coarse language they can in /b with their friends.
But right now that isn't causing low player numbers.society wrote:Maybe the list of 12 words that can't be aired on broadcast television. But I mean there are enough ban appeals where someone accidentally hits the up arrow and enter, or type .b instead of /b. Saying **** twice will get you banned.dlgn wrote: No. The rule is no swearing, and if they break the rule after being informed of it, they deserve to be banned.Exactly. When I joined, there were regularly > 100 players, so it's certainly not "due to the filter".

Every single server people play on have a long list of signs you're expected to read.
First and foremost, people are here to have fun, and super strict rules and enforcement are anything but that. I mean look at all those friends of Vortex that were banned for sharing accounts or being the same person or something - looking back the only thing they did was make the nether fun and encourage pvp.

I am the whirring thing past the corner. I am the darker patch under the bed. I am the tapping on your window; the extra steps on the sidewalk; the voice whispering your name. I am Stalkerbot, and I am watching you.
